The crucial difference is in the number of layers. The 3D Map has three different layers – 6 to 15 mm thick (0.23'' - 0.47'') while the 2D Map has one layer – 5 to 6mm thick (0.2'' - 0.24'').

The crucial difference is in the names and borders. Blank - without names and borders (empty map). Prime is with country names, and borders (states, provinces, and territories).

The Wooden Maps are painted beige-brown while all the borders and names of the countries are engraved on the surface. The Colored Maps are covered with brighter colors (check out all the designs available!). All geographical names, pictures, rivers, and lakes are printed.

The Natural Wooden Map was crafted using the so-called technique of engraving (not printing). It's impossible to engrave the water areas since this type of map is popular exactly for its natural wooden structure and engraving. As an alternative, go for the Colored Map. Its design isn’t limited by the above-mentioned technique.

Maps from the Acrylic Only category have no lighting. In other words, there are no LED stripes. It has an acrylic backing only.

The Acrylic+LED option has an acrylic backing and LED stripes with lighting.

When ordering a LED-illuminated map, choose the most suitable connection method:

• Plug is on the right. Your purchase will be provided with a semi-transparent cable + a power block of 12 V. It comes out of the lower right part of the map (exactly where Australia is located);
• Plug is on the left. Your purchase will be provided with a semi-transparent cable + a power block of 12 V. It comes out of the lower left part of the map (exactly where South America is located);
• Wire out of the wall behind the map. You will have to bring the power supply wire (220V) to the center of the map (Eurasia continent). Connect this wire to the input on the backside of the map as you mount it. See the instructions (included in the package) for more information.

Most of the wooden maps are provided with double-sided sticky tape. It works well for most wall surfaces. Besides, the tape is strong enough to keep all the fragments of the map hanging on the wall. At the same time, it doesn’t stick to wallpapers.

Note here: The LED maps are too heavy for sticky tape. Use remote mounts and dowels to attach them to the wall. The items are supplied together in an assembly kit.

If you want to remove the map (about to get a new one, right?), use a hairdryer. Direct the airflow in the right direction – between the map fragments and the wall. Now, wait a bit and remove them one by one.

In order to re-install the map, ensure to buy more sticky tape (the old one won’t work anymore!). Click here to learn more about the process.

There are no particular rules here; however, there are some quick recommendations. When mounting the map, ensure to avoid:

• Damp areas;
• Direct sunlight;
• Using abrasives on its surface.

The number of holes depends on the chosen size of the map:

• 25 holes – L/XL;
• 45 holes – XXL.
